Close Encounter With A Million

Super terrific is apt to define my day with the remaining finalists of OIAM 2 Roadshow at Summit USJ this afternoon! Initially the place was quite empty, well, it was understandable as I came too early. After watching OIAM 2 last night (Shone was eliminated, he performed a duet with Andy, Flop Poppy. His best performance so far IMHO). The show was supposed to start at 2.30pm but it started 30 minutes later. Biasa la tu...

The 2 girl emcees tried their best to work the crowd... a bit too annoying at times when they kept insisting the audience to mention 'Streamyx'... I actually was relieved to see BlueHyppo, at least he was more entertaining! LOL I caught a glimpse of Ab and Sarah entering the tiny backstage room, and I waved at them excitedly. Man, they were just local stars and I was nervous... I should see more concerts. I felt like a little school girl again... though at my age, I was probably one of the oldest audience in there :(

Belinda took over from then on, she was beautiful. The show started of with the 5 finalists paraded on stage... now more visitors gathered and I jostled to get a better view. Thank God I was in my sandals, it would have been a torture wearing high heels. Shila did a duet with Ayu, singing Alif's catchy song (Khayal) and then did a solo singing Jaclyn Victor's 'Di Bawah Pohon Cemara'. She was cute, I enjoyed her performance... surprisingly.

Then Ab came and conquered the stage. This guy is truly an entertainer. He sang a duet with Ayu (Keliru) which was much better than last night's performance with Nurul. She was trying too much last night... their duet didn't gel. His next song was by Queen's This Thing Called Love. I found myself dancing to his performance... aiyoh, so embarrassing! Haha

Next was Ayu's turn. She sang a duet with Shila (Cinta). This girl really moved me, I didn't even focus on Shila. I loved her facial expressions while singing, she really feels the song. Her solo rendition of 'Ceritera Cinta' gave me goosebumps, I was in tears. Now, if only Ayu could polish her PR a bit more. You can tell that she's a shy person. I really hope she stays in the competition and proceeds to the final. Unfortunately, I don't vote anymore. I've made a vow to myself during AF2 never ever to vote anyone no matter what. So, if you're a voter, vote for this girl!

What can I say about Mark's performance? Well, it was forgettable. He did a duet with Shila ( a song by Farah OIAM, I have no idea what it's called)... they looked lovey-dovey on stage but that was about it. I didn't like that song. I found myself looking at Belinda backstage... did I mention she was beautiful?? :D When the song ended, I was relieved! Mark's next performance was decent (a song by Babyface), he sat on the stairs... it was errr... cute. This guy is really shy, you could tell... he was uncomfortable being on stage at times. Too bad... I really thought he would conquer OIAM 2 during the auditions. Buck up Mark!

Last but not least, it was the petite Siti Sarah performing to 'Listen'. I had goosebumps... she's a pro! I like her :) Her next song was 'Penasaran'. I never thought I'd enjoy a dangdut song, but the music was arranged to sound more hip and up to date. I think of all the contestants, she's the intelligent one in choosing and arranging the songs to suit her style. 2 thumbs up to Sarah :D

After standing for almost 2 hours, I was glad it was time for the autograph session. Yay!! I've never ever asked anyone for an autograph so this was a special occasion, even my son lined up with me :D. It was nice being able to talk to them 'up close and personal' and be able to shake their hands. Oh, I even managed to get Iz and Tiara's signatures too. They were really friendly. I also got Belinda's signature... she was even more beautiful up close. Hopefully she didn't notice me 'staring' at her! LOL

Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. I would think twice if I ever want to go for another roadshow, I could barely feel my feet after that. It was time to head home and it was raining! Dang! I left my son's shoes to dry outside the window...

Oh well... at least I got pictures, loads of them :D

  4. That looked like fun! Although I have to say I'm not really following this years OIAM. I somehow think that the contestants from the first leg were a lot better.

  9. Haizum - Yeah, the 1st season's contestants were better. Faizal is clearly the winner but didn't get the votes :(

I think these 5 finalists deserve to be where there are now. Except for Mark, that is. He should stick to singing slow sentimental touchy feely songs.

Oh, Shila is very cute kannn... Ayu's the best, selalu sya pun ada goosebumps juga if dia nyanyi. Hope she can get votes to Final 3. Ab last time satu kelas with my older sis at UMS, but tia lama. Then, si Mark tuuu... Betul2 pula scout. Balik2 my older sis and I cakap, "macam dia bah ni dulu camping sama-sama". Sekali dia la pulak tu hi hi hi... Tia minat la dia tu he he he...

  13. You are a true OIAM fan la woman!

I am beginning to love Sarah even more by the week! She is so hardworking and always gives a polished performance, and not those we expect from her as an established singer. She goes above and beyond to bring a different side of her on stage every time! I think she is faring much better than Dayang last season!!

My Top 2 picks for OIAM would have to be Sarah and Ayu! I like AB but he's been under performing for the past few weeks!! :):):)

  14. Hi Nessa,
    1.
Re your son: I thought he's a girl. How old is he? So cute and shy. Is he always that shy? I dont remember myself being a shy boy when I was little. Annoying adalah. Heheh. Sorry Nessa.

    2.
And why didn't you introduce yourself as Nessa? When I asked you how did you know about my blog you said you know from a friend. LOL.

Anyways I bet you enjoyed last Saturday. It was raining cats & dogs frm where I came from on that day.

Have a nice day & I'll update you on my single. It's coming.

    Cheers, IZ OIAM.

  15. Crystal - Belinda's a real beauty and Shila's a real cutie. Buat sia conscious with my not-so-pretty-look seja! LOL

Ab and your sis were classmates. Best tu :) He was reali friendly, good PR and very entertaining :) Patutla si Mark tu, a real boy scout rupanya... hehe. Telampau malu2 kucing gia dia tu kan.

Your welcome my dear. I enjoyed writing about it :D

  16. Hi Shemah :)

I think he was the first one to approach the 8TV people for the souvenirs... with a bit of push from his mommy la! LOL

Cantik kan those Cherry Blossoms. I didn't reali notice the backdrop, busy snapping pix of the OIAM2 contestants. Only when I saw these pix, baru sia realise :D

  17. Marzie - That I am, woman! Haha

Yeah, me too :) I didn't like her during the auditions. But gradually she managed to 'steal' my heart!

She and Ab had great PR, and genuinely friendly :) I didn't expect that, I thot she would be 'stuck up' but I was proven wrong :)

Nothing compares listening to her singing 'live'. She entertains like a pro. Definitely unlike Dayang, cos Dayang ada malu2 sikit. Intan jangan cakap la. That girl is full of nerves, reali unexpected from someone who has sang for years.

I'm picking Ab, Ayu and Sarah. Hope the voters are wise enuff to vote for them.

  18. Well hello Iz! What an honor having you here :D (Jumping up and down!!) LOL

I was a nerve wreck la when I met you. Remember I even dropped my pen! So embarrassing :( I was tongue tied actually, I didn't think you'd recognize me even if I introduced myself as Nessa... hehe. A fellow blogger did tell me about your blog so my answer is acceptable kan :)

My son is 9 years. He's shy in public but can be annoying at home. Most kids are like that I suppose! LOL

Thanks for dropping by, and good luck with your single. Looking forward to seeing your performance during the finals :)
