Crystal, author of Choc Mint Girl gave me a Pink Penguin, this is in conjunction with October being a Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
If you know someone who has contracted cancer, please spare a thought for the family. Please do not try to even promote a new drug or medicine claiming to cure cancer. I've experience these with my relatives and it hurt me deeply.
My mom died of cancer 2 years ago, not from breast cancer though. When my mom was diagnosed with cancer, life for all of us in the family became topsy turvy! It was unfortunate that my mom's cancer was already in stage 4 when we found out about it. We did all we could, sent her to the best doctors, prayed for a miracle but God loved her more. It pains me to say this but it was for the better as she was in great pain during the last few months of her life.
If you are in the dark about breast cancer, take a visit to breastcancer.org. Equipping yourself with the right information may save your life!
What can you do to help...
1. Spread the word.
Announce the event on your blog. You could write a blog post (like this), or a little note about it. Whatever you choose to do, just go ahead and tell your readers about it.
2. Go pink.
Modify your theme if you know how to, or get yourself a pretty pink theme:) If you run a website, turn your website pink. But if you don’t like pink, you could still participating by putting up a badge on your sidebar.
3. Design badges and banners.
Design a couple of “Pink for October” badges or banners for other participants to use (for free) and to publicize the event. Some of the existing badges and banners can be downloaded from the official Pink for October site.
4. Design blog themes.
There are a lot of bloggers (me included) who can’t even do simple designing, so if you are good at it, perhaps you could design and release a few pink themes?
I'm passing this Pink Penguin to : Ann ~ Cindy ~ Marzie
Squish a boob? Woohoo, sounds like a cool idea ... LOL! Man, I'm probably gonna get slapped by lots of women all the way from here back to Planet Zork! LOL! ... cool eye catching post title though ...
ReplyDeleteOh nice, do I get to squish my own boobs or someone else's? :P
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nessa. Will pass it on later ya? Good for post in between also dis. Hahaha!
It's a sad story about your mom... all the pains and hopes...she's in a better place now :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thanks for participating, Nessa!! :)
Sorry to hear about your mom. I know how it is to lose someone very significant to your life. Been there few months ago, it's my only child. Not cancer though but she suffered a lot... I had a post about it last month
ReplyDeleteThe sweetest thing we can do to all our departed is to constantly remember them... could cry a lot, but believing in God's ways is a comforting truth. Of course blogging provides a space to these memories. Not only memories but information about particular disease such as Breast Cancer.
Hello Nessa :-)
ReplyDeleteI am really sorry to hear about your mom but like you say, God loves her more and does not want her to suffer anymore. Losing a parent is never easy, does not matter from what. I lost my father back in 1992 when I was only 23years old and I still miss him dreadfully after so long. Take heart and know that they are in a better place ya.
God Bless
LadyJava

ReplyDeleteI've read your post. I'm sorry to hear about your only child.
My sister lost a child too several years ago and recently her husband . It's much too overwhelming to me. But she moved on and that required faith, courage and support from family members.
LadyJava - Thank you for the comforting words:) God bless you too!
