I loved watching 'Karate Kid' those days because of Ralph Macchio. I was a fan of him ever since he acted in 'Eight Is Enough' back in the early 80's. But it didn't influence me into taking up self defense though. I wish I did. I know it's still not too late to learn but it would have helped learning at a young age.
My son loves 'Taekwando', he actually pestered me enroll him in it earlier this year. Which I did, but the moment he saw the other kids in their Taekwando gear, he chickened out. He was embarrassed for going without the proper attire, I reasoned that he was exempted since he just enrolled but he thought nothing of it. He wanted his own gear instantly. He is so stubborn, just like me... so I can't really blame him for having my genes... LOL!
With so many companies out there teaching close combat training, and with no background in martial arts, it is going to be difficult to decide which one offers the best and most effective self defense training. If you want to know the truth about martial arts, you should go online and do some research before committing yourself to a martial arts center. Who knows you just might find great tips from the world leader in self defense for your kid.
Oh Martial Arts. I used to be a fanatic at it. I joined this Tae Kwon Do class in my college days and practically lived upon it. I was so fanatical about it just like I am about blogging now ... LOL!
