My sisters and I were raised by our parents who were farmers. It was fun going to the padi (rice) fields, playing and riding buffaloes! We had a few back then and they roamed freely in the kampung (village)... you had to be careful when walking as buffalo cakes were everywhere... hehehe
Now, speaking of buffaloes, it reminds me of the old TV series 'High Chapparal' where the cowboys herd flocks of cows, and bandits trying to steal them cows! My dad loves watching these type of shows when I was small :). Back then, (even now), there were thieves stealing your properties including buffaloes. They are sought after during weddings as the local custom requires buffaloes whenever one wants to marry a Kadazan girl.
Rather than letting the livestock roam free, it is ideal to put them into metal buildings such as livestock shelters. It would deter would be thieves as these type of buildings are made of superior material that could last for 25 years or more! It is rust-free and are more economical compared to those wood kind that tends to rot and even catch fire sometimes.
If I ever get into this kind of business and become a big time Ranch Girl, I would definitely use these steel buildings to house all my livestock. I might add carports too because they complement the metal buildings:) I mean, after all, a big time Ranch Girl like me would probably own tons of cars now, wouldn't I?... hehehe ...
.
