Those Dirty Little Suckers!

A few days back I saw my son with this red mark on his left cheek. I didn't give it much attention at the time because that boy is prone to mosquito bites and when it rains over here, which it has been for the past week, the mosquito population doubles. Then the next day I saw him scratching at it and they was also another red mark on his cheeks. So I called him over and checked it out only to discover it wasn't mosquito bites at all. He had this rash on his face! My younger boy has pretty sensitive skin and he loves playing around on the floor and touching everything in sight. I guess he must have contracted something in one of his rolling around on the floors or maybe something bit him.

I applied some antiseptic to it and was going to give it a day to see if there was any change, if not I was going to take him to the doctors but thankfully it started subsiding a little. The rash is still there but not as bad as a few days ago. I was still figuring out what actually caused that rash and while folding and keeping the boys clothes in their room, I discovered this dead teeny weeny bug on their bed. It look like a speck of dirt but it wasn't cos I looked at it close up and it was definitely a bug! I think it was a bed bug or something and that was what caused the rash on my sons face. I instantly pulled the sheets out, cleaned and vacuum their room and all their toys and stuff and then washed their sheets, blankets, pillow cases and everything in there.

I absolutely hate bed bugs and I wasn't going to let the little suckers bites my son anymore. It was time for some serious bed bug control. Anyway, after cleaning out their room, the two of them had a little earful from me about jumping and playing in bed. They just love to play in bed and they don't care if their feet are clean or not. I know they're kids and all but they do have to learn a little bit more cleanliness when it comes to their bed. But I guess they will still be up to their playing on the bed tricks and it'll be my job to make sure their sheets are clean and bug free! A mother's job never ends...

  1. same thing that happened to buddy last week.. until his uncle got so upset! his face and hands were covered by the red marks. But there was none on me. But like your son, his skin is sensitive, so that's why his was so bad.

So, same thing, washed the sheets, vacuumed, dusted out what needed to be dusted and now.. he's fine again. Better try out that bed bug control thingymajig! :D

  3. Pity Darren... I guess the bugs are everywhere, it happened to Vanessa too a few times earlier this year. Hers got so big due to her non-stop scratching, thank goodness it was just on her knee.
Better keep the windows close in the bedroom, I think the bugs came from there.

That boy just loves to touch anything , roll on the floor etc. I need to tell him countless times before he even listens.

That's what I do now. It's hot like in a sauna at times but it's better than having bugs biting you all over ya.

  8. Hi PapaJoneh! Long time no see :D

Seems like the bugs are everywhere. I wanted to dry the pillows/mattresses in the sun but it has been cloudy these past few days.

Eh, Merry Christmas to you! :)
