Credit Blues

I remember the first time I got myself a credit card. It was way back when I was working in a telecommunications company back home. Those days it wasn't easy getting a credit card. You had to earn a certain amount of salary before you could even get considered for approval.

I was so happy the day they sent me the notice to collect my credit card. I was beaming from ear to ear, as I have the power to spend! How I regret those words. Because spend I did. And I raked up such a huge bill that I had trouble paying for it at the end of the month. But that didn't stop me, I went on to get another card, again! I ended up with an even bigger debt. That was when I realized that it was time to stop.

So, I canceled my cards bar one and slowly started the long road to paying back all my debts. I made myself a promise that I'd be paying for everything with cash from then on. But don't let that little scary story stop you. You'll just need a little discipline and don't go and buy everything you see and you'll be fine :D So, if you've got great self control then owning a credit card should not be too much of a problem.

  1. Good for you, Nessa. It's absolutely true.. if ur not responsible with your credit cards, it can bring you to financial ruin. Well, maybe not THAT dramatic.. but hey, it happens!

  3. Credit cards? Don't even begin to mention about credit cards to me. I think they're the ultimate EVIL!!!

Well, I guess you can't really blame the cards la, it's the person who owns the cards who are really the culprit. If we practice a little more restraint, then credit cards are not all that bad. Comes in handy for those times when you need emergency cash.
