My younger boy is quite the designer in the making. Anytime he's not up to his usual mischief you'll always find him with a paper and his set of coloured pencils in his hands drawing away. And he's pretty good at it too. He's been interested in drawing ever since he was a young lad of 2 years old. He would make the walls of the house his workspace and I'll always find his scribblings on every corner of the house walls. It sure took me a great deal of time cleaning the walls.
At least now he uses papers or his old school exercise books for his drawing habits. And when he runs out of those, he'll be bugging me to get him more paper or drawing pads and whatnots. And that boy can be so persistent that if you don't get him some, he'll bug you all day long! What does he think? These papers are free? Maybe I should actually start to get him to do his masterpieces (mostly of transformers figures and all kinds of weird anime kind of creatures) on the computer.
That would save me tons of money buying papers for him to draw on. And that boy is wasteful. If he doesn't like what he's drawing he'll just crush the paper and throw it away. He doesn't believe in using the eraser. At least if he starts using the computer, he can just delete whatever he doesn't like and start a new one. And if he really wanted a copy I could always print one out for him. That would save me tons of cash on paper supply... hehehe.
But seriously though, he is pretty good at this creative stuff for a boy his age. He can use all kinds of everyday home items and make them into some pretty impressive stuff. He's probably got the makings of some genius graphic designer or something :D I should really hone his skills more and who knows that little fellow could make a business out if when he's a little older. He does some great card designs. He's done cards for me on Mother's day, Valentine's day, Christmas, etc and they're all pretty creative.
Maybe I could get free business cards and discounts on custom printing with Vistaprint coupons and print a few for him and he could like distribute to his school friends who want stuff designed. That would be a good way to get him to earn some extra pocket money. Probably start a small little design business for him to channel that hyper active tendencies of his into something useful. Maybe get him his own computer, a little cheap and decent colour printer, a scanner and let him work his magic. I could always buy the replacement cartridges that he needs online from the OfficeDeals website that has tons of discount coupons available. Maybe even get him his own little workstation table for him to work from.
I think I'd better stop day dreaming for now and get back to work. I'm getting a little overboard in planning my sons future. He's still got a long way to go before he can even begin to decide what he wants to do. Who knows maybe he'll grow up to be a Formula One driver or something... hehehe. But you really can't blame me for dreaming and being proud of my little fellow now, can you?
How old is ur son Nessa? He sure sounds talented, u should nurture his talent from now, so yes..go ahead and buy all the stuff u need to turn him into a wonderful artist. :)

ReplyDeleteNice blog :) and im so happy to find another sabahan in KL...yeay!
Marzie - He is 9 years. I've thought of sending him for art classes, but never got around to it (plus it was too pricey). I've taught him PaintBrush, so that will do for the time being :)
ReplyDeleteHi Emelda. Welcome to Mumblings :) Aramai tie! Hehe
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by!
That boy's got the makings of a future artist. You should encourage him to draw more :)
ReplyDeleteMD - Ya, hopefully he'll grow up to be someone like Picasso! (Angan2 Mat Jenin oredi)...
ReplyDeleteAt least you're teaching him something. Maybe can consider the art classes later. :)
ReplyDeleteMarzie - The school did offer special art class but I chose to enroll him in a Chinese language class instead. We may not be Chinese but we do look like one, it's funny when I go to the shops and ppl starts talking to me in Chinese :)
