A couple of weeks back, I had to open a savings account for my eldest son at one of the local banks here. I wasn't really too keen on opening an account with this particular bank but unfortunately it's the only bank the government uses to disburse the special kid's allowance. This particular bank has been around for ages but trust me when I say they have not moved forward since they started operations all those donkeys years ago.
Would you believe they don't even have online banking services? Well, what do you expect of a typical government backed bank. If it wasn't because of the allowance, I wouldn't even want to step inside this bank. Makes me wonder if they ever made any profit with their work culture. The place was empty which in a way was good cos I didn't have to wait too long, but it also gave a negative perception to the bank. But I wasn't surprised in any way...
In this day and age, online banking is really the way to go. It's convenient, easy and secure. Now if only we have WaMu here in Malaysia. At WaMu, opening an Online Savings Account makes it so easy to manage your money. The benefits are endless such as checking of your balance, viewing your statements, transferring of funds, ordering of checks right up to online bill payments. And if you maintain a minimum balance of $300 each day of your monthly statement cycle, you won't be charged any service charges!
And for me, that is really what I'm looking for in a bank. Something where I don't even have to step out of my house. I could just sit back, make myself a nice cup of coffee, kick my feet up and use my mouse to do all my banking needs. All in the cool comforts of my home, no queuing in line and most of all not having to work my schedule around the banks business hours cos with WaMu, you can do your banking 24/7 at your convenience :D
Ooooo, I think know which bank you're talking about cos there are only so many government backed banks in M'sia! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnd they really are still living in the 70's or something. I mean, how can they not even have online banking in this day and age, right?
Even their logo is soooooooooooo old fashioned! One thing I know is they will never change their mindset, that's for sure ...
Which bank? I dunno lah...but no online services? That's very the behind oh.
