My eldest sister is a huge magazine lover, she loves buying all those entertainment magazines and books (I remember reading her M&B novels without her knowledge... hehehe). One of the first reading materials my sister bought was called Reader's Digest. Now come on, I'm sure you've all heard of it, right? I can't be that old... hehehe. What I liked about this magazine is its cute compact size coz that fit my small hands perfectly back then. It was more like a book than a magazine for me and I couldn't understand many of the English words in there which had me turning to the dictionary for help. Hey, I was a small little girl back then, ok? :D
Being a kid I was naturally attracted to the cartoon page the most, occasionally I do read the humor pages, and as I grew older I began to read 'heavier' issues like family life and health tips as well as relationships. Having to juggle a family and work at the same time leaves you little time to indulge in reading and that's why I haven't read Reader's Digest for years. In fact I had no idea that Reader's Digest had an online version until I found out about it today! Yay!! :D
I'm sure most of you have read Reader's Digest as a kid or at one time in your life. It was like the 'in' magazine/book those days. What was your favourite section? I'm sure you must have had some favorites. The book was so diverse and it catered to just about anybody. And even if you didn't like everything they published in there, there must have been at least one section you would have loved.
Now with the online version, I can indulge back to my childhood passion for Reader's Digest. There are some sections that I would love to check out such as the RD.com - Parenting section and not forgetting the RD.com - Family Life section. They've got some great tips and some 'must reads' such as the advice and know how section. Go ahead, log on and see for yourself.
Ahhh, Reader's Digest do bring back some cherished childhood moments :) I only hope I can rub some of these reading habits of mine off onto my two boys...
I love reader's digest la. Unfortunately just like you I haven't been reading them very much these days.
ReplyDeleteBut the online version sound good. I checked it out and I already have a favourite section :) In fact I have some old ones that date back to 1975 or so ...
Nick ~ Well, now with the online version we can get back to reading Reader's Digest again ya. But nothing beats having the book physically. Wah, 1975?!! Sell it at eBay la, you might get a small fortune :D
