The Fabulous Baker Boy

Last night, after dinner, I sat down with the boys to watch TV like we always do. I was watching Restaurant Makeover when my younger boy said, 'Mommy, can I change the channel, I want to watch Yakitate Japan (or something that sounded like that) cos I want to be a baker when I grow up'.

A baker? Now when did he decide on that career path? I mean, he wanted to be all kinds of things but this is the first time I heard that he wants to be a baker. Oh, by the way, that Yakitate Japan or whatever the heck that show was called was this anime show about some super duper kungfu bakers and that was why he wanted to be a baker. Oh boy! Kungfu and baking are not two words I would use together in the same sentence. Imagine how the kitchen would look like...

To be honest, I don't know what I'd like him to be when he grows up. I mean, I'd like him to be successful and all that but the eventual choice is up to him. Whether he wants to be a race car driver, a policeman or even a make-up artist, I'd support him all the way. As long as he has the desire for it.

But then I sat and thought that a good career path that he could look into would be IT. In this day and age, the Information Technology field has been developing at such a rapid pace that if you were good at it, you could make millions of bucks. But with the speed at which it's developing, to make it in the IT field you'd need some pretty good know-how of IT cos a lot of companies these days look for people with loads of expertise and experience in IT.

And the best way to do that would be to enrol in some school or college or even a program that will give you the experience and certification you need to excel. And one such company that provides a reputable and quality to its programs is called Cisco, a social learning network where you can browse technical content, connect to other IT professionals, share insights, opinion and knowledge with the whole IT community.

And that's not all, you can also take up their Cisco certification program which is targeted for roles such as network security specialists, security administrators, network security support engineers and the like. And if my son wants to one day take up IT as his job career, then Cisco would be just right up his alley cos that would give him a head start in the IT world.

Oh gosh, I think I'm getting way ahead of myself. My son is still in primary school and for all I know today he'll come and tell me he wants to do what Mike Rowe does for a living... hehehe ... Urmmm, just in case you didn't know, Mike Rowe is that funny guy who hosts that show called 'Dirty Jobs' on TV!

  1. Hahaha.. I used to change my ambition a whole lot when I was a kid too! But my longest ambition was to become a pediatrician and have loads of kids. LOL! My late dad told me, if you plan to be a doctor, you have to be prepared to stay away from home a lot and spend more time at the hospital.

Nampaknya, my path just went to being a wife and mom! hahaha.. but I'm not complaining...

    ....YET! LOL!
