The Yellow T Shirt

One of the best perks working for a Telco is all the free stuff you can get from time to time. I've got loads of pens, bags, files, note pads, mugs, alarm clocks, name card holders, T shirts, you name it and I probably got it already. I could even open a small souvenir shop if I wanted to :) It would have been so much nicer if they gave me a car but then that would be asking too much ya.

I was in the advertising and marketing division back then and I would be at most of their exhibitions, seminars, promotions, dinners and stuff like that. Initially it was so much fun and pretty exciting but after 20 or so times, it started to feel rather dull. You'll always be promoting the same stuff, and certain products are so hard to explain that after 3 or 4 customers you tend to get tired and start sounding like a broken record!

But among all the free stuff that I would get, my favorite is definitely the t-shirts. I'm a casual and simple dresser, you'd always find me in T shirts and jeans or even shorts most of the time. I don't even remember the last time I wore a dress. Sometimes I can look so scruffy, I think even the pig seller's wife looked better than me! hehehe... But we did get some real ugly t-shirts too and one of the ugliest I got was this BRIGHT yellow t-shirt with lime green trimmings and it was so ugly that it's still in the packaging to this very day!

Talking about t-shirts and all, it brings me back to my school days. I remember designing this uniform for our house team together with my classmates. Unfortunately our house was yellow and as you can guess, yellow is not one of my favorite colors. But with no choice, we had to use yellow. Gosh, it took us a while designing it and then trying to find places that would actually print the t-shirts for us. And the only option was going for silkscreen printing and that took quite sometime to get completed.

Anyways, these days, I don't get anymore free t-shirt samples and stuff like before. People are more prudent with what they give for free now. But I do hope I can get some free ones soon cos I'm running out of t-shirts already. And there is no way in hell I'd wear that bright yellow t-shirt with lime green trimmings! LOL!

  1. I remember those silkscreen days! Man, how I hated them. It took so long to get things done.

I love todays technology of those digital printing where you can perform miracles with it ... hehehe ... but of course my clients also know that and think we can perform miracles too ... LOL!

  3. You still ok! During my time we used black paint to have our Jerseys' Number done... what a messy job. I think 80% of my clothes are t-shirts and jean, but i wear baju kurong to work, no choice..

  4. Queen Bee ~ Tapi if pakai spray paint senang sikit kan :) I used to wear baju kurung to work dulu time di Telekom but now mostly in blouse and long pants. Kalau buli pakai T-shirts and jeans kan best... hehe
