**A calico cat is not a breed of cat, it is a color pattern. To be called "calico", three colors must be present: black, white and orange. Variations of these colors include gray, cream and ginger.
Nope, she's not my cat... she's my niece's cat. She's a 4 month old kitten and she's very attached to my niece. She meows differently around her. Her meowing sounds so manja... macam anak mau minta dukung!! (loosely translated :~ just like a pampered child wanting to be cradled).Remember the evil-eyed black stray cat that scratched me last April? Well, he's still around, and still loves to scratch. Blackie aka Gitom doesn't get along with Shimba. I've heard most cats don't get along with calico cats because of the fur's color... but it's probably just a myth.

ReplyDeleteWahh.. I've got Zimba and your niece has Shimba! :) My calico cats have no problem mixing with the other cats.. We've got 30+ cats at home and a few calicos in the number and they're all fun and happy at their big shed.. Maybe it really is just a myth.. :)

Duni ~ I just found out this type of cat is called calico... before this I used to call it the cat with 3 colors! Duh... but yeah, Shimba is adorable. She loves being pampered and doesn't even flinch when my niece cuts her nails :D

ReplyDeleteI had one a fluffy calico Nessa.. Her name was Lornie.. but she was a notty kitty and fell from our 10th storey apt.. so heart wrenching just thinking abut it. She loves to sit on the parapet and one day she just disapper.. .. sob sob

ReplyDelete30+ cats is nothing.. coz we have a big shed for them.. and i take their photos and label their photo with their names so i won't forget.. lol! i have short memory.. but my mom, she's fantastic. she can memorize each cat's name.. the 30+ cats are mixed with the purebreds and strays my mom saves from the roads..
