The other day he came up to me and showed me a list of Malay peribahasa/perumpamaan (proverbs) and I was stumped because I have never heard some of them before. These are just a few examples... Seperti keli kena ketuk, bagai kelip-kelip terbang malam, bagai murai dicabut ekor...
Without showing him my 'I-do-not-know' look, I told him to give me a few minutes to 'collect' my thoughts. I had no idea what those proverbs meant. Then it occurred to me that I could try and search for the answers via Google. And what do you know?! Google did save me from embarrassment (shhhhh, don't tell my son I copied the answers from the net).
How I wish I had the internet those days when I was still studying. Man, I could have scored and do well in my exams. You kids have it easy these days. There's no need to go to the library anymore or buy expensive books. It's all at the click of a mouse and you'll get all the information you need. And if you're wondering what lofts Petersburg va is, Google it or better still, just click on the link!
Hello, just dropping by. Hope you can visit my new blog and follow me too.

by the way, i am extending my contest until the 15th hopefully by that time, i can get many participants.
I tutor kids during school terms, so I need to keep up with their curriculum constantly. I reference the internet constantly too. I don't think I could do without!
ReplyDeleteI lost the ability to help my kids with their homework a LONG time ago! They are in high school now and I don't remember any of the stuff they are studying!!!
ReplyDeletemy daughter used to always ask for help with homework but it wasn't because she needed it, it was because she was hoping I would just give her the answers instead of having to look for them herself...lol
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yabah kan, alangkah bagus kalau dulu2 ada internet. Apa2 pun buli check d internet...terus kan nanti kalau kena tanya cigu, dr mana dapat jawapan....trus kena jawab, 'wikipedia'...hahahaha
ReplyDeleteMelandria ~ Congrats on the new blog and good luck with your contest. I hope you get more participants :)
ReplyDeleteDuni ~ I'm not good at tutoring. Even with my two boys, we always end up fighting because they don't understand what I'm trying to teach them. I'm not cut out to be a teacher! :(
Lin ~ The youngest boy is in 5th grade and the oldest is 15 but he's in a special class. I already have a hard time trying to keep up with Grade 5... I can't imagine how it will be when he's in high school!
Ann ~ LOL! My youngest boy does the same 'trick' with me. And if I refused to help him, he'd give me that look... a look that mommy is mean and unhelpful... sighhhh...
Chegu Carol ~ Iya ba... femes tu wikipedia... suma pun ada jawapan... hahaha
