Embracing Change

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Ramblers Way. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was having a conversation with my youngest boy today about my childhood. He was curious to know what kids his age did during their free time back then.

I told him we went fishing, climbed trees, played with paper dolls, flew kites which we made ourselves from cut up bamboo and plastic bags, rode buffaloes, and during the fruiting season especially with the Bambangan tree or the Belunu tree... most kids even adults alike will wait patiently under the trees (these are very big and tall trees) for the fruit to drop and everybody will be scrambling to get to the fruit first! LOL!

Basically kids those days played mostly outdoors... there was no such thing as the computer or playstation back then. But our parents also expected us to do our part like doing the house chores. I remember having to wash my own school shoes when I was 9 years old and I learned to cook when I was about 11 or 12.

My kids are 14 and 11 years old but I do the washing for them. They've tried washing their shoes before but they always end up playing with each other and making a mess instead of washing their shoes. Kids these days are a pampered lot and most of them don't even realize how easy life is for them. Everything is provided for and we fret at the smallest of things.

If given the choice, I would rather have my kids grow up during my time... sure, life was harder back then but I believe hardship is necessary in order for one to succeed in life, not to mention build some character. My kids would probably disagree though. That is life I suppose... to move with the times and embrace new things. Change is something we must all live with.

Talking about embracing new things, this reminds me of how my hometown used to once be a paddy planting area. Now, paddy fields are dwindling rapidly and we 'plant' houses instead of paddy... hehe. Geez, I'm supposed to write about Ramblers Way Farm but now I'm lost! The only thing I can remember is Made in America. I know, I know... I'm not making any sense at all. Must be old age... I'm turning 39 next month so do excuse me for the incoherent ramblings! LOL!
