I like to spend my holidays curled up in bed reading a book. But for two consecutive days, I've been going to the malls as if it's my second home. I didn't feel like going out but the little one is forever whining about being bored at home... it can really be annoying when he mentions the same things over and over again and the only way to stop him is to bring him out and feed him! LOL!
We went to MidValley Mega mall and left early, around 11.00 am... way before lunch time. I was taken by surprise when we reached the place. KFC, McDonalds and all the other food outlets were packed with hungry people... it was so difficult to move. Even the jewelry shops were packed with tourists from the middle east who are probably out to buy gold, lots of it. I had to ensure both kids were with me all the time because I didn't want to lose any of them in that sea of people. Losing a kid in a huge shopping mall is a big phobia of mine.
We didn't buy much, just window shopping and shop hopping and stopped awhile to see MidValley's Raya theme at their centre court. It looks incomplete since it's devoid of anything related to Raya. It looks more like a flower garden to me. But I enjoyed watching people taking pictures of themselves and my kids and I even played a funny game of selecting 'big' people who would be suitable candidates for The Biggest Loser show...
And today, we went out again! You think I would have learned my lesson from yesterday's experience but noooo.... Bracing the jammed roads with traffic and fighting for parking, we finally reached Sunway Pyramid. I do love Sunway Pyramid's Raya theme this year. I think it's the best Raya theme compared to the other shopping malls. It captured the real Raya spirit of Balik Kampung, complete with a railway track, a train and train station. I took some pictures but they were too blurry... but I do have a picture of this popular hangout for teens.
I don't think I'll be going out to the malls again anytime soon. I am soooo exhausted from all the walking and eating! This Sunday I just want to sleep and recuperate.
Sometimes I wish I live in a remote village...
I rarely shop at the mall anymore. When I was in high school I lived a mile away from the mall and also worked there so I was there all the time. Now I just really dislike going and if I have to I try to make it at a time when it won't be crowded.
ReplyDeleteAnn ~ yeah, I would prefer going during the weekdays when there are lesser crowds. But it's the school holidays and combined with the Raya celebration, the crowd just seem to get bigger and bigger!
ReplyDeleteWell, it looks like a lot of fun though! I like how you look for contestants for the Biggest Loser! :)
ReplyDeleteI love to people watch too. I like to just sit and watch folks moving along. But those are the times I wish I had the nerve to take their photos to post later. (giggle) I'm such a chicken.
Lin ~ It was fun but tiring at the same time :) We were having ice cream while searching for potential Biggest Loser candidates... LOL!
ReplyDeletePeople watching is exciting. Sometimes you see hilarious situations, sometimes not (I've seen couples arguing a few times!). But I'd never dare to take pictures of those... hehe
yesterday i oso spent the whole day shopping, Nessa! :D
ReplyDeleteMon ~ Hehe... we girls just can't stop shopping la! ;)
ReplyDeleteTried to put one on yesterday and it jammed, maybe a glitch in the system. I likethe ice rink, here we go around in a circle. I like ice skating over roller. I go to a mall just to skate, the stores I like are at the one close by.
ReplyDeleteyeah, i've no idea why the Blogger comment box popped instead of Intense Debate, it shouldn't... i hope no one is trying to hack my account. *fingers' crossed*
ReplyDeleteI've never ice skate before. I've tried roller blading once when I was just a kid and I landed pretty hard on my bu**! Ouch! :(
