The Amazing Race Asia 3 : Episode 4

7 teams remain in contention for the USD100,000 prize money. And this was another elimination leg, the 4th in a row! All I can say is... Wow!!

Here's a recap.

4th leg - Hue Citadel, Vietnam - Taipei, Taiwan

All 7 teams were on the same flight to Taiwan

Find a marked car and drive to Ximen Red Pavillion

Niroo & Kapil had difficulty understanding the car (removing the key from the ignition)

Detour
Shoot It ~ Find 'It' in the Miniature Museum of Taiwan
or
Shape It ~ Solve puzzle 'Seven-Board of Cunning' or Tangram at Raohe Street night market

Drive to the Institute for the Blind and decipher Braille code (blindfolded) to reveal the next clue

Sam & Vince were selected to present a cheque of USD20,000 to the institute

Drive to Old Street in Shenkeng

Roadblock (only one person may perform task) ~ Whose nose has a good challenge when you smell one?
  • Eat a big bowl of 'Stinky Tofu' contains fermented tofu with duck blood, vegetables, herbs and spices
Mai & Oliver

Niroo & Kapil chose not to do the task and accept a 4-hour penalty instead

  1. actually i was kinda hungry before the show started, but after seeing the contestants eating the tofu, i felt sick and lost my appetite completely. unfortunately i am hungry back again. uurrghh..

  3. I am so glad that Niroo & Kapil got eliminated. They were beginning to get on my nerves too. Now of only Geoff & Tisha gets eliminated next :D

    They're really eliminating them one by one this time round aren't they?

  4. Lxndreasb ~ Yeah, I can't imagine eating stinky tofu. Hats off to Ida though, she did well :)

    It was a breeze for Henry though, he ate stinky tofu like it was his regular meal.

  6. Nick ~ I kinda like them, they're pretty funny :) But that trouble with the car was silly la, they should have asked someone for help instead of complaining and wailing like that.

    Well, all those eliminated deserved to be eliminated, so it's fair :D

  8. Nessa, when i was in Taipei, my taiwanese friend brought me to the night market and showed me the tofu..she likes it lucky she doesn't offer me to eat..hahaha

  10. I go to Taiwan most summers and a few winters too because I have relatives there. As a result, I can stomach most Taiwanese food. Stinky Tofu is no problem for me. It's actually one of my mom's favorite Taiwanese night market dishes. That's why I found it so incredible that no one could stomach the tofu. The thing is, the tofu smells awful, not unlike sewage when the tofu's at it's stinkiest, but it tastes good. The soup version is a bit more pungent than the fried version. Maybe they should've held their noses while eating it.

    I guess one needs to acquire the taste ya. Just like the Durian fruit, most people is put off by its pungent aroma, but some find it very sweet smelling.
