It is pronounced 'pair-a-doe' (probably French) and it is the birthstone for those who are born in August. It is mostly green in colour, which is one of my favourite colour:). According to folklore, the Peridot will bring its wearer success, peace and good luck. I'm not a believer in such things but I guess it won't hurt to wear it. I do need a bit of success, peace and luck in my life right now:). These are the other birthstones for those of you not born in August.
- January - Garnet
- February - Amethyst
- March - Aquamarine
- April - Diamond (lucky devil!)
- May - Emerald
- June - Pearl
- July - Ruby
- September - Sapphire
- October - Opal
- November - Topaz
- December - Turquoise
Peridot Fact & Folklore: -
