Edible Gold Anyone?

Apparently gold isn't just for jewelery nowadays. If you could eat it, why not? Well, a company in Japan (Japan seems to come up with weird things!) called Tsukioka Co. Ltd. sells edible gold flakes, which comes in many shapes and sizes. The company claims that by ingesting the edible pure gold, it helps to refresh the human body. I don't know about that claim but I don't think our digestive system absorbs gold. It's metal so wouldn't it just pass through the body?? Apparently this is not a new thing because the ancient Egyptians also believed that eating powdered gold could immortalize oneself! This is probably just a fad, you know... if you want to impress someone, why not show off your wealth by eating the golden stuff! I don't know about you but I prefer to just wear my gold (not that I have many anyway).

  2. Oh, nice find! There really is a lot of weird stuff here.
Edible gold just sounds unhealthy to me...
Something odd I saw here recently was chewing gum that apparently makes your sweat smell like roses!
I'm a little skeptical about that one too.

  3. Ann - You can find some prices at http://www.goldleafcompany.com/goldleaf.html#ediblegold (But this one is not the Japanese company, I couldn't find their pricing).

Sally - Hmmm, cool stuff. If it works, don't need to buy those deodorants anymore!:)

  4. Well, you don't see those ancient Egyptians walking around the earth now do you ... hehehe ... so I guess eating gold doesn't really immortalize you, ya. Must be some money making schemes thought of by those ever ingenious Japanese people :) What will they think of next ... hehehe ...
