Give Me A Sign...

There was this old rundown shop somewhere along the main road of Old Klang road amidst this row of other equally rundown shops. This was way back in the time before they built a highway in the area. This particular shop caught my attention because of its very unique, well, not really unique but rather old fashioned signage with the word 'Kedai Ronchek' (Sundry Shop).

That signage was simple, quaint yet it was done in the old traditional way of doing signages, which was by hand! Imagine having to manually paint a whole signage if you needed one back then. It took some specialized skill to do something like that and I'll bet it took days to complete.

Well, times have really changed since then. These days, you can get a signage or even banners done in a fraction of the time it takes to do it the old fashioned way. With the advent of graphic studios using high end innovative technology and the use of digital printing methods, you can create a full range of custom signages, banners, buntings, high resolution posters right up to vehicle signages in the blink of an eye. Well, not really a blink of an eye but pretty fast:)

Technology has made things so much simpler and faster but it has taken away to a certain extent the skill involved in making these signages and stuff. What used to be an art has now been replaced with modern technology. All you need is a pretty decent high end computer, some wide format digital printing machines and you're all set to run your own little one-stop digital print shop. Ahhh... technology, either you love it or you hate it!.

  1. Oh, this is just perfect for me to comment on since I actually work in an industry that depends on these digital printers ... LOL!

Yes, you're absolutely right though, technology has made doing things so much simpler. I remember a time when it would take at least a month to do a sigange but now before I can say signage, it's done already ... LOL!

  6. Myfisol - Yeah, that's true. It's the uniqueness of the beautiful handwriting that computers can't match.
