Do you have a pet name? I think most of us do. My pet name is 'Adik' (it means little or young) but I'm not the youngest. The weird thing is even those who are younger than me call me 'Adik' and I'm way older than they are! My other nickname is 'Aunty Langgou' because apparently I'm the tallest among my 4 sisters! Ahem...
When my grandma was around those days, she was the 'guru' of giving her grand kids pet names. Some ended with names like Bontoi, Ongkok, Jojoi, etc... These names even though not very glamorous stick till today, I think it's really endearing. Some parents do name their kids authentic Kadazan names like Buhavan, Tombituon, Bontugan, etc and it is interesting to have such unique names.
Hey sis, I think you should have adopted the name 'Kingkinin' lah... very unique, I don't think anyone has that name yet;)

ReplyDeleteI used to hate it when they called me that.. now, only Syura calls me that to annoy me.. but I'm really not annoyed anymore. I find it funny, now.. LOL!
When I was young my cousin who was like 10 years years younger than me used to call me Koko boy, cos he just couldn't pronounce Nico boy ... LOL! Now my nephew call me Nick Nick ... LOL!

ReplyDeleteI used to get teased by the boys and the called 'Kucing Kurap'... it was demeaning and I was so sad. But we were 9 years old then. I smile whenever I think about it... especially when I see a kucing yang berkurap... hehehe
