Oktoberfest! When I think of Oktoberfest, immediately visions of sausages and tankards of beer run through my mind. Well, basically that's about it because I've never been to Germany before... hehehe ...
What I know of Oktoberfest is what I've seen in documentaries which is why one of these days when I'm able to afford it, I'd love to actually travel to Germany and experience Oktoberfest in person. But not the beer part because I'm not a drinker at all, but more of reveling in the celebration and fun of the Oktoberfest! But I think my 2 boys would probably have a blast eating all the sausages they could get their hands on because those 2 just love eating nothing but sausages.
With October being the month Munich normally hosts one of the world's biggest public festivals, I'm sure the hotels in Munich would all be fully booked by then. I guess I'll have to start planning early if I want to join in the festivities. Besides just joining the locals to celebrate Oktoberfest, there are loads of other tourist attractions and fun things to do in Munich and one of the place I must visit would definitely have to be St. Peter's Church and the Marienplatz which is named after the Virgin Mary and is also the centerpiece for the city´s Founding Festival.
I know if I ever go to Germany, my accommodations would not be a problem because I could stay with my sis in Austria, but with the numerous reasonably priced hotels in Germany that I could choose to stay in, I wouldn't have to bother her by bunking in with her. And that would suit me just fine because then I could just soak in all the splendour and rich culture Germany has to offer such as the Brandenburg Gates, its historical museums and majestic castles.
Well, I guess I'd better start brushing up my grasp of the German language soon. That's really going to be a huge problem because the only German word I know right now is Michael Schumacher... LOL!
Germany. I've always wanted to go to Germany. It's on my list of places to visit right after Scotland :)
ReplyDeleteNick - Scotland? I don't think you'd look dashing in skirts! LOL
