Hosting Blues

I know I've posted about wanting to have my own domain name before and I still do. I've been seeing a few of my blog buddies also talking about it. I mean how cool would it be to have a domain called mumblings.com or something along those lines. It'll make my blog seem all the more professional... hehehe...

But there's always the but! First of all, I wouldn't know how to go about designing a template for my blog. Right now I've been using Blogspot and they've got pre-designed templates to chose from. So far I haven't had any problems with Blogspot and I'm so used to its functions. But there are so many pros and cons that it gets hard to decide sometimes.

Take for instance what I read of a fellow blogger, Spiff about how his company was having some huge difficulties with his hosting company, now ex-hosting company I think. How do I even begin to find a reliable and affordable hosting company? So many questions and so little answers, especially for a non-techno junkie like myself.

Maybe I should do what that he suggested by visiting http://www.webhostingchoice.com. Web Hosting Choice is basically a guide to choosing the right web hosting company, be it for your personal or even your business use. With their searchable directory, I'll be able to find the hosting plan that's most suited to my needs. At least I won't get some useless hosting company that would give me endless headaches later in life.

Oh man, all this is just giving me a headache. I think I'll just stop now, sleep over it and see how I feel tomorrow morning about owning my own domain. Who knows, I may see things more clearly and just sign up with one :D So, for now, I'm heading to bed and get some needed zzz's!

  2. That site is a good way of searching by your standard...meaning, what price do you want? Which type of hosting will you choose? I suggest a basic or personal for a blog...Anyway, if you want to have your hosted blog, you'll be using wordpress (most blogger use this), Typepad or other kind of free blogging software...if wordpress, you have a thousand template to choose from..just my 2 cents...

Thanks for the info. I actually have a blog using Wordpress (the free one) but I have problems managing it, not too familiar with the system.

  10. Hi Nessa! Yes, it would like very nice: mublings.com! Very nice indeed! .

I have had some problems with blogspot unfortunately. Twice I haven't been able to open my own blog or that of some friends. It's like the server was down or something.
Then, I used to moderate my comments and one day I just stopped receiving the e-mails in order to approve the comments. Very strange...Anyway, let us know if you manage to get your own domain :)

    Have a lovely day!
