I only have myself to blame for getting bad eyesight. Why? Because I was hooked on cross-stitching! When I started, I couldn't stop myself. I was like a possessed woman. I wanted so badly to see the end product of my cross-stitch 'project' that I would diligently cross-stitched till the wee hours of the morning!
It didn't help when the lights in my room was kinda dim. It didn't take long for my eyesight to suffer. It was several weeks later when I realized I couldn't make out the words written on a whiteboard, a few feet away. I was baffled, I thought the marker ran out of ink. My bespectacled colleague was seated next to me and I jokingly asked him if I could try on his eyeglasses. And what do you know?? The writings were crystal clear! Man, I nearly had a heart attack. I looked like a dejected girl in that meeting room.
I never thought I'd be wearing glasses. Way back then, eyeglasses were huge and ugly! Of course I didn't have a choice, I would have looked odd if I squinted all the time. So, I bought one, reluctantly.
The moral of the story is... if you need cheaper and stylish prescription glasses, you can with Zenni Optical: Sell Rx Glasses $8 with case!
You know what? I'm actually supposed to wearing glasses especially at night cos I have astigmatism but I'm just too vain to even bother getting by. Sometimes I wonder how the heck I actually manage to drive at nights especially when it rains ...
ReplyDeletewell, some people just buy plano lenses ( no power) just to look good. we have many client like that when i work in kl last time..our clients includes patrick teo, rahim maarof oh..
ReplyDeletegood idea
ReplyDeleteAt one point, my sister went for an eye exam. To her surprise, she was told she needed glasses. She wears them for distance like for driving, and is thankful for her strengthened sight. When she initially put on the glasses, she was amazed how much her vision improved. We can all be thankful for inventions, especually those that enrich the senses.
ReplyDeleteHi Nessa, I think we all eventually would need glasses, especially now that we sit in front of the PC and blog all day ... LOL!
ReplyDeleteHi Nessa!! Something like that happened to me but instead of cross-stitching (which I love btw) it happened when reading with dim light :( Now, I have been wearing glasses for many years.
ReplyDeleteLOL! This is the 4th entry about glasses ive read today. (and my turn is waiting to be published saja nie)LOL!
ReplyDeleteLike i commented in Nick's blog, i was once a kid who was so envy of others who wore glasses. Sampai mau pakai spek eventho' tidak rusak mata. Satu kali rusak betul2, baru lah kotoh.
Nice glass!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you've got an award waiting for you:

Cheers!
Hey Nessa, you've been given an award by me :D Come collect it here while stocks last! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnother cross-stitch lover! YAY!!!! I'm a cross-stitch lover too - but never get to finish a project. I keep seeing new and more prettier pattern online, so I buy the new pattern and start the new one lagi.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine? I once promised to make a cross-stitch for my friend's baby's 1st month birthday. I bought a pretty "certificate of birth" design and only managed to make 50% of it. In the end, I gave the 50% done cross-stitch to my friend on her baby's 1st birthday and made her finish the rest. HAHAHAHAH! Thank goodness she's a cross-stitch fan too!
Hello Nessa,
ReplyDeleteSame here lol...without my glasses I can't see the letters on the keyboard hahaha
Previously you joined the Linky Love Train, which was quite successful.
How about joining the Big Bang (if you haven't already)
Have a great day and hope you will join in :)
Colin
Nick - Tsk! Tsk! You should reali your eyes tested and get that spectacles already. I don't think it's safe to drive at night especially when it's raining. Some guys look more dashing with glasses on... I repeat 'some guys'... hehe
ReplyDeleteDeana - I think that's a great product (plano lenses)... first time I've ever heard of it though :)
ReplyDeleteWah, so cool to meet local celebs... I used to have a crush on Rahim Maarof when I was in my teens! Patrick Teoh's a funny fella...
Hi Hazel! You think so? I think so too... hehe
ReplyDeleteHi Liara! Thanks for dropping by :)
ReplyDeleteI think most people don't realize they need glasses. I certainly didn't know I needed one. Having a clear vision is a joy! I'm indebted to those brainy inventors.
Andy J - You're right about that :) I should assign a day off from blogging, but it seems impossible! Somebody save me! LOL
ReplyDeleteLa Delirante - Reading under a dim light is definitely a no-no, that was what my teacher used to tell me. I've been wearing glasses since 1994!
ReplyDeleteCarol - Ya, it's like a virus kan... hehe. Sia pun slalu pinjam my sisters glasses when I was a kid, konon mau nampak matang la. I thot it was cool... now that I'm wearing one, it's definitely not cool.
ReplyDeleteI've thot of using contact lenses but my eyes are just too sensitive. I don't dare to put anything foreign inside :(
Emila - That was a sweet award... I like that girl. Thanks for thinking of me :D Will put it up soon ya.
ReplyDeleteNick - Another award?? Wah, I had no idea I was popular!! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks, will check it out later :)
Cindy - Hello fellow cross-stitcher! :D So far, I've managed to complete all my projects except one. I gave it to my niece to complete... I have no idea if she has completed it.
ReplyDeleteTia apa bah, at least you've done half of it kan. I don't mind getting a half completed project, just as long as you've marked all the colors for the threads... hehe
Hi Colin! Welcome to Mumblings :)
ReplyDeleteYa, I've been tagged by a few bloggers (5 of them actually) for the Big Bang meme...
I've noticed that my Technorati rank has steadily decreased for the past month. I've been wondering what's the cause of it. Could it be because of these linky train thingy?
HI sis! Long time no cerita2. Sorry, my bad for being absent most of the time... bukan apa, laziness strike!
ReplyDeleteTalking about cross-stitch, I still have 2 unfinished cross stitch here from home and I think they will never be completed.. I guess I will let Vanessa continue to do it for me when she's older. LOL
Ann - It's OK, I understand. I'm also lazy at times... but couldn't ignore the assignments! LOL
ReplyDeleteBagus tu... diperturunkan ka mai dii. Hehehe
