Spare A Thought...
Today is Earth Day. We should all sit back, take a long hard look at what we're doing to Mother Nature. Here's a poem that aptly sums up my thoughts for today.
Tears of Mother Earth
If we step on her, why can't we see her?
If she holds us up, why can't we support her?
Where is our attention?
Who will pay the price?
We spill our waste on her.
Like a sponge, we expect she will continue to sop up whatever we give her
without complaint or repercussions
When will her patience run out?
What will happen then?
Will our children lay their heads in slumber, upon a toxic waste dump?
Where is our attention?
Who will pay the price?
Who is shedding tears for Mother Earth?

What a lovely poem. I didn't realize it was Earth Day today until I came here.
ReplyDeleteWell, Happy Earth Day, mama nature. Hope people treat you a little more kindly today :D
Wowww... I love that poem! Very menusuk kalbu! Btw, I'm wearing green today!! :D
ReplyDeleteHope people become more active in environmental issues. Right now there is ever increasing awareness but most people are still in the "yeah, yeah, maybe tomorrow" stage.
ReplyDeleteHappy Earth day everyone, let's go green!

Happy Earth Day, Mother Earth! I know you dislike my laundry but who cares. I still wanna wish you!! :D
ReplyDeleteNick - Happy Earth Day to you! People should treat mother nature with more care and concern, not just today but everyday, right :)
ReplyDeleteSyura - Ya, menusuk kalbu kan :( Kesian mother nature... I watched 'An Inconvenient Truth' on HBO last night. Al Gore is very inspiring, the things we don't know. Bikin takut juga.
ReplyDeleteHui Sen - Yes, you're right. Soon, we'll be living in a wasteland. Take KL for example, whenever it rains, it floods... maybe we should buy boats instead. I wonder what the so called smart tunnel is for...
ReplyDeleteHappy Earth day Marzie! :) Thanks, will check it out later ya.
ReplyDeleteHappy Earth day Cindy! :) Kadang2 mother nature pun pandai merajuk bah... hehe
ReplyDeleteYup~! And I still get goosebumps everytime I watch it.. I can say I was kinda obsessed about saving energy right after I watched it last year. Sampai I was thinking of organizing something for Earth Day! Serious! But lama2 pandai la I slip back into my normal ways.. You should watch 11th hour!! Scaryyy!!!
ReplyDeleteSyura - Yes, they should show more shows/documentaries on Global Warming for awareness. Normal la, we're only human, we always need to be reminded kan :) 11th Hour sounds scary indeed. Nanti sia pi Google...
ReplyDeleteLovely poem Nessa! I liked it all but especially this: "When will her patience run out". Thanks for sharing :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWendy - I found so many poems on mother earth but this one stood out :) Kinda sad ya.
