LapTalk!

I was going through the papers this morning and came across this advertisement from one of our local telecommunications company having a promotion for their data plan package. It looked pretty interesting cos it also included a nice little free mini laptop or notebook (I couldn't tell the difference) that I would get for free. All I had to do was pay a small sum for the next 24 months. I am tempted to take up the offer.

I've always wanted to have my own laptop. Desktops are great but they're pretty bulky and take up a whole amount of table space which I could do with. My desk right now has this big huge monitor, not to mention the huge CPU and that leaves me with this tiny space left for anything else that I need to do on my desk.

But the thing is laptops are kinda expensive, granted I can get some cheap ones but then that would compromise on performance. I've seen the price of those high-end machines, way beyond my budget. And even if I wanted to get one, I wouldn't know where to look for something good and reasonably priced.

But I suppose if I really wanted to buy one I could always do a search online at ShopWiki. They've got lots of laptop computers for me to choose from. On top of that, they're totally different from the rest of those traditional online shopping sites out there that only show you stores that have paid for their placements there. ShopWiki on the other hand finds every store on the internet (and that's a lot mind you) by crawling the web just like what Google would do.

I was intrigued enough to check them out and true enough, they did have an extensive list of laptop products on offer. One of the categories that I liked the most was the top picks section. This section had loads of different models and makers that I was instantly mind boggled by it. They had models such as the Lenovo ThinkPad X300, the Sony VAIO TZ1 50N, the Toshiba Portege R500 but the one that caught my eye was the MacBook Air. Now, I'm not particularly a person who knows the difference between a normal laptop and a Mac but that machine was so sleek looking that I knew it was the Ferrari of laptops, so to say :D

But looking at the cost of all these machines, I'm going to be stuck with my huge bulky but reliable desktop for now until I win the lottery in the near future (must go buy some tickets one of these days!). Or maybe I might just take up that telecommunication company's offer...

  6. Nessa, I too am itching to buy a laptop! Saja, for me to play games or blog while watching TV! Last time I had a laptop was before I got my current PC. Kinda nice to have one, esp if it's the lime green VAIO that I love! :):):)

  7. Without a doubt Macs are VERY nice looking machines. I had one a long time a go and it was yummy.
The important difference with Macs is their software. They don't have Microsoft software, they have their own version so you'll have to check any software you have...games etc...it see if it's compatible.
Other then that it's general things like the amount of memory, hard drive size and graphics card size.

  8. I actually have 2 laptops. One is windows and one is a mac and I have to say that my windows one has so much dust on it because I NEVER use it anymore. If and when you do decide to get one...I highly recommend the mac. =)

Good luck and I hope that you get one soon! They are so convenient. I travel a lot and if I did not have my laptop I would always be using other peoples machines and well I just hate doing that.

If you don't travel much though well I guess you could save your money...although...I like the laptop also because I can sit in bed and work on days where I am just too lazy to get up! =)
