The Price Of Love

I'm sure all you love birds out there are going to be pretty excited about tomorrow being Valentine's Day. Probably got your gifts for your loved ones all ready, a nice candlelight romantic dinner all planned out and ready to have the time of your life, ya.

As much as I think Valentine's Day is good for those newly in love but I just think that it's getting to be an incredibly expensive occasion to celebrate. Anything and everything that has to do with love and romance is going to be totally hiked up way pass its real value. This is probably the time all those florists are going to be smiling all the way to the bank :D

With that said and done, I'd like to wish you all a Happy Valentine's Day with your loved ones tomorrow. Hope you love birds have a blast... hehehe. Anyway, here are some weird things you probably didn't know about Valentine's Day.

* Men spend almost twice as much on Valentine’s Day as women do. This year, the average man will spend $156, while the average woman will only spend $85.

* More than nine million pet owners are expected to buy gifts for their pets this Valentine's Day.

* According to the condom company Durex, condom sales are highest around Valentine's Day, which are 20 percent to 30 percent higher than usual.

* Penicillin, a popular treatment for venereal diseases such as syphilis, was introduced to the world on February 14, 1929.

* Teachers receive the most cards on Valentine's Day, followed by kids, moms, wives and sweethearts.

* In Japan, women are expected to give chocolate and other gifts to men on Valentine's Day. This tradition was started as a marketing campaign by Japanese chocolate companies. Men are not off the hook, unfortunately. They are expected to return the favor on March 14th, commonly known as White Day.

  1. Yes, I agree. V-day has gotten to be a pretty expensive affair. Why show how much you love someone only on one day of the year? What about the other days?

Remember the song, 'if tomorrow never comes'? Well, I for one believe that you need to show your love for your loved ones all year round and not just on one day where things are really expensive!

Anyway, Happy Valentine's day to you....... heheheheheh!

  7. It is time for some people to earn big bucks from Valentine's Day! Very expensive day indeed! There is nothing to celebrate this year, cutting cost! Since we already giving each other presents on Xmas, so nothing for V Day. hahaha!

    Happy Valentine's Day to you!

  11. Happy Valentine's Day to you Nessa!

Sure, I'm all for celebrating love every other day. But then again if you can celebrate every other day, why not V-day as well, right?

Honest to gosh, I would jump and do cartwheels if I were given a dozen of over-priced flowers and chocs on V-day.. who wouldn't??

I'm all for celebrating my marriage every other day.. but do you really get flowers and chocs every other day? Like seriously?? :)

Anyways, my v-day was sunyi. Hubby was working afternoon/midnight shift. So teda juga buat apa2. :) How about you??

Well, you have a point there. Nothing wrong in celebrating... like you said, we do celebrate other days too :)

Yeah, I wouldn't mind getting a bunch of flowers and chocs on V-Day but if I don't, it's not like it's the end of the world... hehe. Sometimes, some people go way overboard... but it's their money, they can do whatever they want with it right?

My V-Day?? Hmmm... biasa2 seja. Nothing spectacular :)
