The Mistaken Identity

I received this SMS last night :~

'Dear parents, please make sure your son Darren attends Sunday school every week. We noticed he has not been regularly attending classes since the beginning of the year. We hope you can ensure his attendance so it doesn't disrupt his catechism studies. Thank you.'

My eyes almost popped out and the next thing I knew, I was screaming at my younger boy to get his butt up to the room. He was watching TV at that time and by the scream I gave him, he practically ran up the stairs three at a time with this what-the-heck-did-I-do-wrong-now look.

You see, I have been personally sending him directly to his classes every Sunday and I would head to the coffeeshop nearby for breakfast. But the SMS caught me by surprise cos I thought he was skipping class the moment I leave for breakfast.

He vehemently denied any wrongdoing. You see, the thing about my son, I can instantly tell if he's telling the truth or not... call it a mom's intuition :) He wasn't fiddling with his nose, his eyes didn't wander nor was he fidgety. So, I asked him if there was another Darren in his class, which there was.

That was when I realized it was a case of his teacher sending an SMS to the wrong parents! After texting her and explaining that it could be the other Darren, she was so apologetic and even mentioned that my son happened to be her most favorite student. Apparently my son is very helpful in class... which also surprised me cos that boy never even lifts a finger at home!

I am relieved to sort that out. Imagine if it was true that my son was skipping Sunday classes. I would probably be called up by the parish priest and given a stern lecture and probably be the topic of his next sermon... hahaha

Oh and by the way, do any of you know what in heaven's name a BYD is?
