Hop On... Hop Off

It has been terribly hot these past few weeks. My son came home from school grumbling the other day that it was so hot. He walks to school and back since we live a mere 5 minutes away from the school.

I can understand his frustrations though. I could get him transport to school. I did ask around even before the school started but I was shocked with the fee. It was almost RM200 per month for a mere drive to and back from school! I told my son just that and although he understood why I didn't get a transport for him, he would still complain of having to walk to school and back every single day. That's just his nature I guess.

This reminds me (Oh! Long post ahead!heehee)... of my school going days back in the early 80's. I'd take a bus with my sisters to school. Remember Penampang Union Transport? Those big, clunky old buses?? I wonder if the company is still in existence...

Those days there aren't many buses plying the route... in fact, it's the only bus company that was plying that route (if I'm not mistaken). And the bus would normally be packed like sardines. Eeeww... imagine the smell especially in the afternoon after school.

It does bring back fond memories though. I remember this boy I used to have a crush on, who also boarded the same bus to school. Whenever I saw him, I'd hide behind other passengers (most of the time it would be packed and we had to stand) but if we happen to cross paths, well, urmmm... we'd smile at each other and my cheeks would turn red all over. LOL! Talk about puppy love... but I never told him about my feelings until years later. He laughed and took it as a compliment! Such an embarrassment cos he didn't even acknowledge he had feelings for me blushsad...

Oh well... that's history. Back to my bus story, a different kinda story. As most of you know I watch Akademi Fantasia. And at the end of the concert, the eliminated contestants always get taken to this bus called the KL Hop On, Hop Off bus and it reminded me of New York Sightseeing version of the bus. I wouldn't be surprised that the KL version of it got their idea from CitySights NY.

If you're ever in New York, you'd probably notice this fleet of 60 new double-decker buses that are specifically designed to cater for sightseers in New York. I mean, what better way to view the splendors of New York than to sit on one of CitySights buses with their top-deck-only seating that provide you the best view of New York City's finest.

Being one of the recognized leaders in the New York sight seeing business and often acknowledged with some of the best value sightseeing packages that include most major attractions in New York such as the harbor cruises, museum visits, shopping day trips and even night tours to places with amazing views of an illuminated Manhattan skyline. I wonder if you'll be able to see Mac Taylor and gang on one of their crime scene investigative rounds or not... LOL!

Wow, I didn't realize I know more about CitySights NY buses than I do about our own Hop On, Hop Off buses! But with all that said and done, if you're ever going to New York for a holiday and want to see the place, don't forget to check out CitySights, NY and see what they have to offer you. I'm sure you'll be impressed with their packages biggrin.

  17. Happy Belated Mother's day Nessa.
    Sorry to drop by late.
You really stay active with this thumb up post.
I saw and took picture on the Hop On, Hop Off buses in KL too. I definitely would love to be like a tourist and travel in KL and New York if I have the opportunity.
However, a lot of KL places pun tak parnah pergi lagi.

Nessa, you mean your house is very near the school and the transport fee the transporter ask is RM200 per month.
    That very expensive:)
I only heard the most expensive RM120, now RM200!?!?

    Take care and bye!

Tapi your son still young (tadika kan?). Maybe when he's 10 years old buli la jalan sendiri. Ikut hati sia mau antar juga tapi anak laki2 mesti kena ajar berdikari juga.

  19. Yoon See ~ Thank you Yoon See :)

Errr.. what's a thumb up post? Sori, a bit blur la. I haven't been to all the places in KL too... the jams put me off and the limited parking spaces.

It's quite near the school, have to cross the bridge dulu la. I think since I'm renting in USJ area, the driver thinks I'm super rich. Sighhhh...
