... when it comes to baking. Even when I cheat, the result was not what I've expected. Sighhh...
You see, I tried my hand at making cupcakes today. Urmmm, decorating to be more precise :). I haven't bought an oven yet so I bought ready-made cupcakes at Baker's Cottage! Hehe... (bijak-bijak). The ingredients to make chocolate butter icing were bought a week earlier. I have a mixer so mixing the butter icing was child's play :)
Now, the trouble was I didn't have a proper measuring instrument like a weighing scale to make the right icing consistency. So, it was a bit of this and that (main hantam saja)... I had the recipe with me but it didn't help much since the icing turned out too soft. I wanted to add more icing sugar but the mixture was already too sweet for my liking. I added more cocoa powder to try and balance the sweetness but it didn't help either :(
Now, came the fun part. I also didn't have an icing press. So, I used a plastic bag (the ones they freely supply at supermarkets) and tried to decorate the cupcakes. It didn't turn out right... it looked gross (more like baby poop to me!). But I continued to ice the cupcakes (there were 10 of them) and kept them in the refrigerator as the butter icing started to drip.
But I guess my effort wasn't in vain as both my boys loved them... ahhh, thank God for having 'Pac-Man in the house'! LOL
Here's the equally ugly picture of the equally ugly cupcake! I have a l o o o o n n n g g way to go... I know :*(
Well, at least now you can only do better the next time, right? Good try though. And thank god for those kiddos of yours :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing pictures of your next try :D
Don't be hard on yourself sis.. I'm sure you would have a perfect icing if only you have the right stuffs, scale, measurement etc. :)
