TEHRAN: An Iranian man has filed for divorce and asked a court to protect him from his hefty wife, saying she lays into him every night when he gets home from work, the Etermad newspaper reported.

"I am a cleaner at a hotel and get home late at night. "But my wife thinks I do other things after work," the paper quoted the man, Behrouz, as he told the family court here. "Every night when I get home my wife, who is tall and strong, hits me."

Behrouz, who is slightly built, said he no longer wanted to go home and pleaded for the court to save him from his wife.

The judge has now summoned the wife to appear before the court before he gives a final ruling in the case. - AFP

I don't know whether to cry or laugh at this guy's predicament. Perhaps I shouldn't. I'm so used to hearing women getting abused and this is really the first time I read about a man begging the court to rescue him from his wife!

It sounds like a case of a jealous and suspecting wife to me. I mean how many times have we heard of the excuse, "Honey, I'll be late today, got loads of work to do" and in the end they find out their husbands are having affairs ya. But she shouldn't have gone overboard by resorting to physical violence.

Hmmm... I wonder if she was smaller built, would she had the guts to whack her husband??
